At pre-production stage we firstly did a lip-syncing activity, this was to the busted song ‘That’s what I go to school for’ which we knew we were making the video too. We worked in groups and this activity was to practice for the video we would be making as a class, we have a few practices each and then videoed our groups miming to the song. After this we then had to put in on to the computer and edit by putting the music over it, this was challenging to get the music at the same time as the video and took a lot of concentration. We also had to add credits, we then had to put this onto you tube. Our next activity at this stage was to watch the original video of ‘That’s what I go to school for’ and make table of all the shots that made the video, this was around 35. Next discussed as a class was the prop list this included things such as the guitars, costumes and school equipment, these items that were given to individual people had to be bought in for the next lesson ready for filming, this was the last part of the pre-production section.
The production stage only took two lessons which is just over two hours, in this time the class first got ready to shoot the part of the video which would be inside, this was shot by Jack and Jake. This took up to an hour, this was a complicated procedure as Jack and Jake had to get the angles right and the people starring in the video had to get their timing right. This was also the difficulties for the second part of filming which was shot outside, the timing had to be right for everyone including when the people who are ‘busted’ jump. This was a difficult part for them to get the timing right. Organisation skills needed to be better at this point because everyone was working together and it was a whole class task which we hadn’t done before, I think being more organised at this stage would of made this process quicker and run more smoothly. This was a very independent task where neither of the teachers were involved, I think this was good because we got to built our skills with working independently but as a whole class however she should have been more prepared for this and had more practice runs.
