Looking at Fonts

When creating both our CD cover and our magazine advert we need to consider fonts, this is not just what fonts we like but how well they work with the picture we want to use and the colour and size of the word. It is important to do research in to this to look at what does work well together and looks good. Below i have looked at some album covers and underneath i have analysed them to state what i like and don't.

These two album covers have very interesting pictures and they get the attention rather than the fonts in this case, however the fonts do very much fit in with the picture. For example in the Beyonce cover, the colour of the writing is the same as her outfit and the styles of the picture and the font suit each other very well, however on this Rihanna on the title is not even a full word but they still look related to each other, they are both very edgy and the same colour.

These two are very different, this Rihanna cover has bigger writing that gets your attention and it also does this because the writing is in front of the artist, however it does not block any of her. However the one on the right is more about the picture of Mariah Carey than the title or her name, i dot like this font much as i think it is quite boring and doesn't show any style.

These fonts are slightly more creative than the others, i like this because it seems more interesting and appealing. I prefer the font of the one of the right to the left, i think this is because it is bigger. I like this more than the title being further back and looking smaller however it does fit in with the cover of Beyonce because it is in line with her.

This Whitney Houston cover has very simple font, although i would probably not choose this for my font i think it works very well with the colours and the picture. This is because it is all following the same style, it looks very sophisticated and i would think is very much aimed at its audience. I like the font from the Taylor Swift album because it has two different ones for the name and her name. I think these look good together and again work with the colour scheme and picture.
