We are writing a risk assessment, the purpose of this is to outline all of the risks possible before we start filming so that hopefully we know ways of overcoming these and then when we are actually filming or doing any other practical work these risks won’t be harmful to anybody and things will run smoothly without anybody getting hurt.
Equipment.
A risk with the equipment is simply if people drop it or it falls over and could easily hit somebody or land on somebody’s foot, although this does not seem like a serious injury it could still hurt somebody and we want to avoid any accidents we can at any stage at the filming. If something like this was to happen it would also cause trouble if for example the camera broke as it fell on the floor because this would then be time consuming to get another one to continue filming.
The Set.
Being on the set could be a risk depending on where we are filming at the time, the reason for this being because there could be things on the floor that it is likely for somebody to trip up, which also means we need to set up our equipment in a sensible place at each location so that everybody around us in aware that it is there and nobody will trip over it or get hurt. Other things on the set that we need to be aware of id things like were we put our bags or equipment we are not using at the time. We need to make sure that they are out of the way and everybody is aware that they are there. Other things on the set that could cause an accident would be simply things like people walking into each other especially if the set or location is quite a small space.
Props.
When filming the props around us are always going to be a risk, this is simply because they could fall over and either hit someone or be in the way and somebody tripping up, this is things such as the guitar or chair. Another issue with the props, which could also relate to the equipment, is carrying it around and moving it from one place to the other, a way of overcoming this would just be to make sure somebody is with you to help carrying or moving and just taking your time and being careful because this could cause injury to somebody if they moved something too heavy or big.
