Here we are identifying features that are most common in our music video to enable a refresh and detailed idea as a whole. The explanation will be clearer and easier to understand.
Who?
Our music video consists of one artist, Skye fior the main 'character' and as she is the aqrtist as the song it will be in relation and more practicle, she will also be acting her tour performances out to enable a great visual that will reflect the aspects of her career. Navnette Virk is our actor playing the artist, hopefully representing Tracy Chapman well. The video will include random people acting out as a for instance people walking in the streets for a scene set up. However it is clear the Skye is the main character and will be using visuals to reflecct song lyrics as it is significant to the groups ideas for the music video as the song is so indepth with meaning through lyrics.
What?
The majority fo the msuic video will be like a story, more represented as a on going sequence of scenes that will reflect words in the lyrics, such as car... there will be many shots involving a car, although the lyrics are using car as a metaphor. On the other hand there will be flash back tp the artist singing on stand, without an audience as the song is about her being alone and needing to get away, it will be used mostly at the chorus. Her actions will be reflected in the different types of scene, especially the lighting used. For example dull lighting in a sad or glum part of the song.
Where?
The location of the shots will be described in more depth within the post, final shot locations. The location will be more in town where the city centre will come intogreat use when filming busy streets and sareas, such as specifically the the clock tower and fountain shots, which i particually based on these areas. Another location which will be a great resource will be our school stage, with steps attached to complete the scenes including shots where suddenly the the artist moves posistion of infact, is performing. We want to keep our video as simple as possible so that the location, props or other features are ot only easily avaliable to us so we can focus more on the editing and great mining. We took this into great consideration when producing our storyboard. Close up shots of the artist will complete shots by almost attaching them together, also to show emotion through the signing in the lyrics. The school is going to become very helpfu to us for our shots as there are plenty of room, however the harder shots will include that of the moving car with the artist. OIn the other hand the movement of the fast cars will be shot of a motorway, off of a bridge for safety, this way we can also gain a great real life shot. This will also be shot in the day so it will be daylight.
Why?
We have chosen these locations and a simple story so that the video looks realistic but not too complex for the group to have access to or shoot in a reasonable period of time. Our model has her own unique image which is safisticated and therefore will look good and represent the song. Although there is no specific story to the msuic video we hope to gain a distant story of her overall lifeand a feel to her emotions. We do have a varitied amount of locations but we limitted the amount of different shots, so once one scene is complete we then can briefly use it later in the music video, this way focusing on conventions such as lighting and camera techniques will also improve the video greatly however mor ethrough the technical side.
How?
Firstly we will gather a list of different camera shots we will use in a sequal for each shot we have produced on the story board simply to make sure that the shots flow smoothly together and dont look like its suddenly been cut to another shot, panning, and zooming will be a main feature. Other music video conventions will be mind mapped for possiblities that we could include. A shhot planner will eb a vital to the production side when we begin as it will be able to give us deadlines to keep on track! Which is very important. By producing a risk assessment it will allow us to identify and overcome any possible problems also to prevent us from slowing down on the filming. Practice shots and categorise each shot for each scene whicih we could shoot at the same time in a day or so so we will not have to keep going back the same location. We are going to experiment with styling and costumes asa well although we have done an indepth research already, so we basically know what we want to include. A major part we need to sort out are not only the props but the resources and equipment, which we will make a list of such as a camera, and tripod.
