Examples of Other Texts - Magazine Covers Investigation in Colour.

I have chosen to look at the magazine covers of Tracy Chapman for a vider range in research of texts in her career other than her music videos and songs, as she stared on the front cover of many magazine to the build up to her extremely good and well - known career as an artist.

I chose to look at the magazine covers which Tracy Chapman has been on the covers of, to get more of an insight in the specific audience types that will be interested in our music video that we are producing including the song Fast Car. Rolling Stone magazine is a US-based magazine which is published across the uropean countries devoted to music, liberal politics, and popular culture, the magazine is published every two weeks. The Edition above suggests that theimage and article of Tracy Chapman was at the near begining of her career and introduces her to 'stardom'. It is interestingto see the change in her fame and popularity. We chose the song Fast Car because it is classed as her most well know to not just her fans but also people who are not neccesserily fans recognise the song, also due to it huge popularity and deep meaning lyrics.

By the picture above we can also see that this magazine was published early on in her career not just by noticing her younger looks but also by the date, and as 'Spin' magazine was first found in 1985. The magazine was first noted for the broad variety of music coverage and an emphasis on the college-oriented rock music however now is noted for the on going emergence of the hip-hop genre. I think that the colour works well with the clothing that she is wearing as well because of the fact that it is bold colours in comparison to her skin tone and complexion.

Red is a reoccuring colour used for font arround Tracy Chapmans image, i particually want to experiment with this colour against black and white in the music video for a big contrast and to make parts of the video really stick out and be asthetically pleasing to the viewers eye. Having props in the image above really gives the viewer an indication of what genre of music the artist works with and particually in the music video will relate back to the song. I hope to use a prop such as a guitar or a piano in the video to act as a concert scene, or even a meaningful 'sing-along'.

The picture above reliterate the colour contrast i have just spoke about using bright colours give a more obvious and eye catching effect, however the images below they dark theme has also cam across. I plan to combine the two in the music video for both meaningfull effect in the dark thems and the lively eye catching effect from a added one colour.
